flour shop

CONCEPT

The design of the store has been carried out with an understanding of the flour as process, ritual, tradition, time, patience ...

The design of the element is made from three filters, which allow the descent of the flour to be slower, while sifting.

As a whole, the whole establishment follows a guide and with it a staircase that passes from one side to the other, functioning as a means of support in both. The lighting is placed in two lanes, one general of direct light bulbs and another in the stair guide, thus illuminating the information of the dispensers.

The latter are the object of the project, as they are in charge of offering us the food and at the same time they are the organizing elements of the space. They have been designed taking as reference: the hourglass, and in some way its philosophy.

And finally, the facilities are hidden behind a metal mesh located above the fans, thus avoiding the false ceiling and maintaining a view towards the vaulted ceiling of origin.

DESIGN PROPOSAL

Passatge del Pla number 8.

This project includes the reform of a premises in Barcelona that currently serves a commercial use as a bar.

The reform is aimed at creating a store for the sale of bulk flour. While it is true that more and more a concern about what we eat increases, flour is such a recurring food throughout the day that it is not given the use or uses that could be made to enhance its benefits in all its aspects and its variants.

In this project has marked the tradition that accompanies this food to remember the value of the good, that being the most basic, is the most necessary.

We also wanted to highlight the importance and difference between the worker and the buyer, visually differentiating two contrasting environments in the space.

One that collects the "dirty" but totally transparent activity of the trade, using as background the opposite color to that of the flour, illuminating with directional light bulbs that create a certain theatrical effect.

And on the other side we have the main access, a clear space that accompanies the user in the purchase of food and his tour of the store.
